Tigs Macallan (Monique)

Bachelor of Psychological Sciences

Master of Professional Psychology

Member of the AAPI - Australian Registered Psychologist

I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, respectful and genuinely human. I’ll meet you where you are, without judgement, and we’ll work together to understand what’s happening for you and what you might need.

I combine practical approaches that can help you manage difficult thoughts, emotions and life challenges with a deeper exploration of the experiences and patterns that may be shaping how you feel and respond. This means working on practical ways to create change while also taking the time to understand what may be happening underneath the surface.

I’m particularly interested in Jungian psychology and the different “parts” of ourselves that can develop through our experiences. I believe that developing a deeper understanding of yourself - why you respond in certain ways, what you need, and what matters to you - can create new possibilities for growth and change. My aim is not simply to reduce distress, but to help you develop greater self-understanding, flexibility and a clearer sense of the life you want to create.

At the heart of my work is a belief that our struggles and symptoms can sometimes carry meaning. Rather than seeing them simply as problems to be fixed, I’m interested in what they might be telling us  - and what becomes possible when we listen with curiosity and compassion.

I’m endlessly curious about the human experience and the many ways we move through life’s joys, difficulties, relationships and transitions. It is a privilege to walk alongside people through some of their most personal and meaningful experiences. I bring care, presence, curiosity and deep respect to that work.

I offer appointments in person, online and by telephone.

I work with adolescents (16+), adults, parents and couples through a wide range of life experiences and challenges.

Brian is a counsellor and interdisciplinary scholar with a background spanning philosophy, theology, counselling, spirituality and addiction recovery. He holds two PhDs in philosophy and theology, alongside postgraduate training in counselling, and has spent many years engaged with academic and spiritual communities exploring questions of meaning, human experience, transformation and psychological wellbeing.

Brian brings an integrative approach to his clinical work, drawing on Schema Therapy as well as depth-oriented and psychologically informed approaches. His work is interested in understanding the deeper patterns and stories that develop through a person’s early experiences and relationships, while also helping clients develop practical skills to respond differently to difficult thoughts, emotions and behavioural patterns.

He incorporates principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and related approaches to support psychological flexibility, emotional awareness, perspective-taking and more adaptive ways of coping. His aim is to balance depth and insight with practical strategies that clients can use in their everyday lives.

Brian has experience working in the addiction recovery space, supporting people to understand the underlying emotional, relational and behavioural patterns that impact their lives. His broader academic and community experience has also given him a particular interest in the relationship between spirituality, meaning, psychological development and recovery.

Brian’s approach is collaborative, curious and non-judgemental. He works with people to develop a deeper understanding of themselves while building the psychological flexibility, self-awareness and coping capacities needed to move toward a more meaningful and sustainable life.

Brian offers appointments in person, online and by telephone and works with adults 18+
